Every piece I ghostwrite and design begins with rigorous research: verifiable primary sources, scientific evidence, and the editorial judgment to shape complex ideas into a founder’s distinctive voice.
My training spans research ethics, artificial intelligence, UX and web design, and business intelligence. I’m certified in research ethics through the Government of Canada (TCPS 2: CORE 2022), completed the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute’s AI for Earth Scholarship, studied UX design at Parsons School of Design, and hold a certification in business intelligence and data analytics, along with the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines & Spirits.

The practice in the world
The Naturalist’s Field Notes is where I put my practice into the world: a weekly publication on the agricultural economy, exploring how we grow, make, design, and build with the living world—from field to finished product.
The System
Valerius Digital Naturalist
For founders building the regenerative economy, I am developing Valerius: an AI research agent designed to extend the reach of my editorial practice. Valerius is being built to continuously survey the fields surrounding my clients’ work, following scientific research, emerging technologies, live debates, and early signals.
Its architecture draws on research principles I developed through Amii’s AI for Earth Scholarship. Valerius is designed to help me search across disciplines, trace connections, organize evidence, and deepen the research behind every publication. The purpose is not to automate thought, but to widen the field of inquiry from which thoughtful work can emerge.
Valerius Digital Naturalist takes its name from Valerius Geist, the pioneering Canadian wildlife biologist. His work joined close observation of animals with a conviction that wildlife conservation should be grounded in science. He was instrumental in articulating the principles that became known as the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation.
The belief behind Valerius
Technology can search, summarize, and connect information faster than any individual researcher. It cannot exercise editorial judgment, recognize what is genuinely meaningful, or shape complex ideas into a founder’s distinctive voice. That remains my work as a researcher and ghostwriter.
The Study
Literature, land, and the regenerative future.
My research practice began with the Foundation Year Program at the University of King’s College, an interdisciplinary study of foundational texts and ideas that traces intellectual and cultural history from the ancient world to the present. Moving chronologically across literature, philosophy, religion, politics, science, and the arts taught me to read across disciplines and place the questions of our own time within a much longer intellectual history.
At Parsons School of Design in New York, that inquiry became visual. Studying design taught me to understand observation, composition, and light as ways of paying attention to the world.
My academic work continues through the Open Learning model at Thompson Rivers University, where I am pursuing degrees in computing science and English. This interdisciplinary path allows me to explore the relationship between the humanities and technology while continuing my writing and field study internationally.
